About

Attribution patching is a gradient-based technique that approximates activation patching results in a single backward pass, enabling scalable analysis of thousands of model components simultaneously. Use it when traditional activation patching is too slow or when you need to analyze many components at once. It works by computing gradients of an output metric with respect to corrupted activations and multiplying them by the difference between clean and corrupted activation values.
